Reinsurance Accounting Supervisor

- Oversee the recording, reconciliation, and settlement of ceded and assumed reinsurance transactions, including premiums, commissions, losses, and recoveries.
- Ensure reinsurance contracts are accurately interpreted and accounted for in compliance with company policies, IFRS/GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reinsurance financial reports; provide variance analysis and explanations for management and regulatory bodies.
- Supervise reconciliation of reinsurance accounts, statements of account, and balances with brokers and reinsurers; ensure timely settlement of receivables and payables.
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes related to reinsurance; maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the accuracy and integrity of reinsurance financial data.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in reinsurance accounting workflows.
- Work closely with underwriting, claims, finance, and risk teams to ensure alignment between operational activities and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely submission of reinsurance-related reports to regulators, rating agencies, and other stakeholders as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in reinsurance or insurance accounting.
- Strong knowledge of reinsurance principles, contracts, and accounting treatments (IFRS 17 knowledge is an advantage).
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with reinsurance administration systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience supervising teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
