Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all VAS platforms, ensuring optimal performance and uptime. 
  • Manage systems such as SMSC, USSD Gateway, IVR , Voice Mail Systems, Ring Back Tone (RBT) Platforms, and Location-Based Services (LBS). 
  • Monitor system performance using appropriate tools and take proactive measures to prevent service degradation. 
  • Configure VAS systems to support new services, promotions, and features as required by the business. 
  • Manage user access, security settings, and system parameters to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. 
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. 
  • Provide second-level support for VAS-related incidents, troubleshooting issues to restore services promptly. 
  • Collaborate with customer support teams to resolve customer complaints related to VAS.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences. 
  • Work with product and marketing teams to develop and launch new VAS offerings. 
  • Evaluate new technologies and platforms that can enhance the VAS portfolio. 
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for system upgrades, patches, and new implementations. 
  • Ensure seamless integration of VAS systems with the core network and other platforms. 
  • Conduct testing for new services, system upgrades, and configurations to ensure they meet quality standards. 
  • Develop and execute test plans, documenting results and coordinating with relevant teams for issue resolution. 
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all VAS platforms, generating regular reports on system health, usage statistics, and service performance. 
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for optimization, and areas requiring attention. 
  • Provide management with insights and recommendations for service improvements. 
  • Ensure all VAS systems comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. 
  • Implement security measures to protect systems against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities. 
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust systems and processes accordingly. 
  • Liaise with vendors for technical support, system enhancements, and issue resolution. 
  • Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure they meet organizational needs. 
  • Train and mentor junior team members on VAS systems and operational procedures. 
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base articles, user guides, and training materials. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and operating VAS systems in a telecom environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of VAS platforms such as SMSC, MMSC, USSD, IVR, Voice Mail, RBT, and LBS. 
  • Experience with system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting. 
  • Understanding of telecom network architecture and protocols (e.g., GSM, CDMA, LTE, SIP, SS7). 
  • Proficiency in Linux/UNIX operating systems and scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
