Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of all VAS platforms, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
Manage systems such as SMSC, USSD Gateway, IVR , Voice Mail Systems, Ring Back Tone (RBT) Platforms, and Location-Based Services (LBS).
Monitor system performance using appropriate tools and take proactive measures to prevent service degradation.
Configure VAS systems to support new services, promotions, and features as required by the business.
Manage user access, security settings, and system parameters to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Provide second-level support for VAS-related incidents, troubleshooting issues to restore services promptly.
Collaborate with customer support teams to resolve customer complaints related to VAS.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Work with product and marketing teams to develop and launch new VAS offerings.
Evaluate new technologies and platforms that can enhance the VAS portfolio.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for system upgrades, patches, and new implementations.
Ensure seamless integration of VAS systems with the core network and other platforms.
Conduct testing for new services, system upgrades, and configurations to ensure they meet quality standards.
Develop and execute test plans, documenting results and coordinating with relevant teams for issue resolution.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all VAS platforms, generating regular reports on system health, usage statistics, and service performance.
Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for optimization, and areas requiring attention.
Provide management with insights and recommendations for service improvements.
Ensure all VAS systems comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
Implement security measures to protect systems against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust systems and processes accordingly.
Liaise with vendors for technical support, system enhancements, and issue resolution.
Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure they meet organizational needs.
Train and mentor junior team members on VAS systems and operational procedures.
Develop and maintain knowledge base articles, user guides, and training materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in managing and operating VAS systems in a telecom environment.
Strong knowledge of VAS platforms such as SMSC, MMSC, USSD, IVR, Voice Mail, RBT, and LBS.
Experience with system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Understanding of telecom network architecture and protocols (e.g., GSM, CDMA, LTE, SIP, SS7).
Proficiency in Linux/UNIX operating systems and scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
