Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Management, Mathematics, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification such as FRM, CFA, or PRM is preferred.
8–12 years of relevant experience in credit risk, market risk, financial risk management, or a related banking/financial services function, including significant managerial experience.
Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, market risk management, financial instruments, portfolio management, and risk measurement methodologies.
Sound understanding of Basel regulations, IFRS 9, regulatory capital, stress testing, and risk governance frameworks.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and financial modelling skills.
Strong knowledge of risk management systems, methodologies, and reporting tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to present complex risk matters clearly to senior management, executive committees, and the Board.
Strong understanding of banking products, financial markets, and economic factors affecting credit and market risk.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the organization’s Credit Risk and Market Risk management framework, ensuring effective identification, measurement, monitoring, and mitigation of risks.
Develop and maintain credit and market risk policies, procedures, methodologies, limits, and risk appetite in line with the organization’s strategy and regulatory requirements.
Oversee credit risk assessment and monitoring across corporate, retail, financial institution, and other relevant portfolios.
Oversee market risk arising from interest rates, foreign exchange, securities, commodities, and other financial market exposures.
Establish and monitor risk limits, thresholds, and escalation procedures, ensuring timely action when limits or risk appetite are breached.
Lead stress testing, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and other forward-looking risk assessments.
Provide independent risk challenge and recommendations on significant credit facilities, investments, transactions, and other material exposures.
Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, risk appetite, and approved limits.
Prepare and present regular credit and market risk reports, dashboards, and analysis to senior management, executive committees, and the Board/Risk Committee.
Identify emerging risks and provide recommendations to management on appropriate mitigation strategies.
Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Business, Compliance, Internal Audit, and other functions to ensure effective enterprise-wide risk management.
Lead, manage, and develop the Credit and Market Risk team, ensuring appropriate expertise, performance, and succession planning.
Ensure the continuous improvement of risk management methodologies, systems, models, controls, and reporting processes.
Maintain effective relationships with regulators, auditors, and other relevant external stakeholders on credit and market risk matters.
