Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for life calculations in alignment with IFRS 17 requirements.
- Support actuarial teams with calculations and valuation processes.
- Develop aggregation tools for actuarial data streams and review assumptions used in cashflow modeling.
- Review and refine implementation guidelines covering portfolio classifications, product mapping, scope assessment, levels of aggregation, contract boundaries, and measurement models.
- Ensure consistency in actuarial assessments, including PAA eligibility, onerous contracts, loss components, risk adjustment, coverage units, and CSM amortization patterns.
- Enhance actuarial reports and regulatory disclosures with detailed reviews, key indicators, and insightful summaries.
- Validate actuarial results and provide recommendations, with extended support to general insurance activities.
- Address ad-hoc requirements such as shareholder requests and acquisition-related analyses.
Group Reserving
- Design and maintain periodic reserving processes, ensuring appropriate actuarial methodologies are applied.
- Monitor and explain reserve movements, assessing adequacy through actual vs. expected experience.
- Communicate reserving processes and findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Data Analytics
- Standardize business classifications and streamline actuarial data sources across all business areas.
- Develop reliable and comprehensive data sources to support actuarial and management reporting.
- Produce standardized MIS reports to help management evaluate insurance portfolio performance.
- Provide ad-hoc analytical support to business leaders.
Financial & Business Unit Support
- Monitor assets, liabilities, and solvency positions, identifying mismatches and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist finance teams with financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and capital modeling.
- Support ERM initiatives in capital optimization and risk management.
- Collaborate with investment, underwriting, and claims teams to review policies, strategies, and adequacy of practices.
Reinsurance & Regulatory
- Evaluate reinsurance programs and optimization strategies.
- Support appointed actuaries in fulfilling statutory and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Post-graduate actuarial degree (Master’s or Associate of a recognized actuarial organization); alternative qualifications considered.
- Professional actuarial certification with examination-based credentials.
- Minimum 6 years of actuarial experience in a formal environment.
- Strong background in financial analysis, management reporting, and IFRS 17.
- Experience managing staff and leading small to medium-sized teams.
- Familiarity with actuarial software, technical tools, and programming (preferred).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- High proficiency in reporting, analysis, and presentation; formal English required (Arabic is an advantage).
