Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising daily agricultural operations, including irrigation, fertilization, and field maintenance.
  • Support the farm manager in allocating tasks to field workers and monitoring their execution.
  • Regularly observe and report on the health of date palms; help identify signs of stress, disease, or pest outbreaks.
  • Participate in the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) and pest control activities.
  • Provide basic technical guidance to workers under supervision on practices like plowing, planting, pruning, thinning, and trimming.
  • Suggest improvement ideas and report issues that may affect yield, fruit quality, or productivity.
  • Promote and follow workplace safety regulations and occupational health standards.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Global GAP and other relevant agricultural quality standards.
  • Contribute to training sessions for farm workers by sharing agronomic knowledge and observations.
  • Help with the collection, documentation, and testing of soil, water, and leaf samples; support the adoption of modern techniques to enhance productivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in agriculture (experience with date palms or desert farming is a plus).
  • Basic understanding of date palm physiology, soil science, crop nutrition, and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise workers in the field, ensuring timely task completion.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with agricultural software is an advantage.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and deserted environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to be on-site at least 5 days per week and travel to field sites as needed.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
