Responsibilities
- Design and develop PV solar systems for rooftop, ground-mounted, and battery-storage applications.
- Create detailed engineering plan sets using CAD software to support installation, permitting, and inspection requirements.
- Prepare system layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting technical documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, electrical standards, and regulatory requirements at local, regional, and national levels.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including project coordination, procurement, and installation—to support seamless project execution.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) outlining required components, equipment, and materials.
- Support cost-estimation activities by preparing project quotes that include labor, equipment, and additional installation costs.
- Review, analyze, and optimize system efficiency, performance, and safety during the design phase.
- Stay current with solar industry technologies, design best practices, and evolving regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in solar system design or a similar engineering role.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design tools.
- Strong understanding of PV system components, electrical design principles, and solar installation workflows.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes such as NEC, IEC, or other applicable standards.
- Ability to interpret technical data, electrical drawings, and site surveys.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional project teams.
